Police are searching for witnesses after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in Sydney’s west last night.

The man, aged in his 70s, was struck by a vehicle on Hilltop Road at Merrylands, just after 6pm.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene but couldn’t be saved.

The female driver wasn’t injured and has undergone mandatory blood and urine testing.

Police are now urging any other witnesses to come forward.
