We’ve received a note from a listener who is asking for our help.

Alexis reached out to 2GB Breakfast with the following message:

“My husband Josh has a rare and aggressive cancer with no remission pathway—known as MTC. Together we’re raising our three young kids on the Mid North Coast.

We’re a family who spend our lives serving the community, but right now, we’re fighting for Josh’s life. He has already undergone multiple major surgeries, but the cancer keeps coming back and has now spread further.”

Alexis added: “There is a medication that could change everything—called Selpercatinib. It’s a targeted therapy that has shown remarkable results. It’s already on the PBS for some cancers… but not MTC.

Because of this, the only effective treatment for Josh costs around $18,000 per month. That is completely out of reach for ordinary Australian families. We know between 10 and 15 other Australians who urgently need this medication right now. Many more will face this situation in the future.

We’ve launched a national petition calling for this medication to be added to the PBS for patients like Josh.”
