Former Labor MP Joel Fitzgibbon has slammed Energy Minister Angus Taylor for his “rubbish” comments on energy prices.

AGL Energy, Energy Australia, and Origin are some of the latest providers who plan on hiking up energy prices as much as $200 due to wholesale energy continuously fluctuating.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor believes electricity prices will go up within a Labor government due to “over-investment in poles and wires”.

Joel Fitzgibbon told Deborah Knight, that the Minister is avoiding the truth.

“Angus comes on every week and argues that prices haven’t gone up, they are going up … and they’re going up on his watch,” Joel said.

Joel Fitzgibbon: “Angus has chosen to ignore those recommendations.”

Angus Taylor: “That’s an absolute rot. It’s sad that on your final one of these, your saying things like that.”
