A pair of Australian actresses have produced and starred in a film about the legendary Dolly Parton.

The musical comedy Seriously Red is the first film from Rose Byrne and Krew Boylan’s production company, Dollhouse Productions.

Krew Boylan told Deborah Knight it was a big achievement to hear back from the country music star.

“A week or two after us getting in contact, Dolly called back to say she loved the film! I couldn’t believe it, and that’s where the journey started.”

Rose Byrne says she was thrilled and inspired to be presented with the opportunity.

“It takes time to put something like this together. It’s a grassroots, independent, Australian film.”
