Rock n’ Roll singer Jade Hurley is selling a famous piece of memorabilia

Rock n’ Roll and Country singer Jade Hurley wants to sell an important piece of memorabilia from his collection – a barber’s chair.

Hurley contacted Alan Jones to explain it’s not any old barber’s chair, it’s from the old Australia Hotel in Sydney’s CBD.

When the hotel closed in 1971, the singer bought the chair from an advertisement in the Trading Post, paying $6,000.

Former Prime Minister Ben Chifley was once a regular visitor of said chair.

When the now-74-year-old went to pick up his purchase he took his dad with him, who exclaimed upon laying eyes on the chair, “that’s the barber’s chair that Mr Chifley and I used to get our hair cut in.”

Hurley tells Alan he’s downsizing and needs to get rid of it, but he’d like to see it go somewhere where its history is preserved.
