NSW Roads Minister Natalie Ward has confirmed a new law cracking down on illegal protesters is now in force.

NSW Parliament has passed laws of up to two years’ jail and fines of up to $22,000 for those blocking major facilities, including ports and railways.

But protesters this morning blocked a Brighton-Le-Sands street.

Ms Ward told Mark Levy the new laws were enacted on Friday.

“We’ve done our job, we’ve put them in place … we’ve given them the tools.”
