Ben Fordham has broken down on air while paying tribute to Australian media legend Brian Walsh, who has passed away.

Mr Walsh was responsible for launching the careers of some of the biggest stars in the country, including Hugh Jackman, Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce.

He worked in the industry for more than 40 years – with stints at the ABC, 2SM and Channel 10.

He was also responsible for the iconic Tina Turner “Simply The Best” rugby league campaign in the early 1990s.

Since 1995, he had held senior management roles at Foxtel.

Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany called in to pay tribute to Brian Walsh.
