30-year-old Northern Territory police officer Zachary Rolfe has pleaded not guilty to murdering 19-year-old Indigenous man, Kumanjayi Walker.

The man had been wanted by police after cutting off his ankle bracelet while on parole for a serious assault.

Footage shown in court shows officers attempting to arrest him on November 6, 2019, in a remote Aboriginal community 300 kilometres from Alice Springs.

However, Walker charged at officers with an axe andĀ fled the scene.

The trial continues today in Darwin.
