Ray Hadley has named one of the ministers responsible for suggesting a leadership spill against Deputy Premier John Barilaro by spreading cancer rumours.

The Deputy Premier has been undergoing tests after a biopsy found a lump on his throat.

Mr Barilaro revealed to The Daily Telegraph rumours began swirling that he was suffering from cancer.

He says he caught colleagues trying to use the health scare to strike at the Nationals leadership.

Ray has received an exclusive tip from within parliament that Nationals MP and Tourism Minister Adam Marshall was “most responsible” for spreading the rumours.

He’s told Minister Marshall desperately wanted to be the roads minister, but was knocked back because of his shocking driving record.

Since 2002, Mr Marshall’s been caught drink driving, has clocked up over 10 speeding fines and has had his license suspended.

Instead of the Roads portfolio, Mr Marshall was given Tourism and Major Events.

“John Barilaro couldn’t give him what he wanted,” says Ray.

Ray says if Premier Gladys Berejiklian is re-elected, “Adam Marshall should be shown the door”.

“If you nurse mugs like this bloke, they die in your arms.

“He’s a mug, he’s always been a mug, he continues to be a mug.”
