Rental affordability ‘in deterioration’ across Australia
Renting is less affordable in every city across country than before the pandemic.
Research by SGS Economics and peak body National Shelter found Brisbane is at a historic low point for affordability.
The annual index, which compares rents to household incomes, shows Hobart is the nation’s least affordable capital.
But regional areas are the hardest hit in flooded areas and across Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania.
National Shelter chief executive Emma Greenhalgh told Deborah Knight there has been a deterioration of rental affordability across the nation.
