Lockdown will end for many regional areas on Saturday, but they’ve been warned a single COVID case will shut them down again.

Moree Mayor Katrina Humphries told Jim Wilson her community and others will now be able to see “the light at the end of the tunnel”.

“It is a relief, it is a privilege … we can’t stuff this up.

“I’m far from gloating or clapping or cheering, because some of neighbours are still in lockdown, and … we really genuinely do feel for them.

“But we have got to be masters of our own destiny.”
