Rapid test stock levels looking ‘okay’: Pharmaceutical industry

Article image for Rapid test stock levels looking ‘okay’: Pharmaceutical industry

From today millions of Australians will have access to free rapid antigen tests from pharmacies.

Those holding a healthcare card, a low-income card, a pension-concession card, a veteran gold card or a veteran white card will be eligible to ten free tests in a three-month period.

There will be a limit of five tests per month.

However, the lack of tests available has made them hard to come by.

But the chief operating officer at Chemist Warehouse, Mario Toscane, told Jim Wilson on 2GB Drive that situation is changing for this program.

“We had really health levels (of rapid tests) there in New South Wales at one hundred stores,” he said.

“I haven’t had too many reports of stocks depleted yet, but that can change.

“It’s a very fluid situation, demand is very, very strong.”
