Raising concerns about Gladys Liu isn’t racist: The Big Guns

Big Guns Peta Credlin and Graham Richardson say they’re disappointed the Prime Minister insinuated it was racist to raise concerns about embattled MP Gladys Liu.

The Member for Chisholm has been heavily criticised after a trainwreck interview on Sky News which raised serious questions about her links with China.

She claimed she couldn’t recall being a member of Chinese organisations known for influencing foreign governments, before later being forced to admit she had been involved with three organisations with links to the Chinese Communist Party.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has continued to support Ms Liu, accusing Labor of “casting a smear on Chinese Australians” in questioning her allegiances.

Political commentator Peta Credlin tells Ben Fordham the insinuation of racism is ridiculous.

“I was pretty disappointed with claims from the Coalition, the Prime Minister in particular, that questioning these issues amounts to racism. It’s not.

“We’ve got to have wide, open eyes when it comes to China and asking these questions is the right thing to do.”
