Qantas CEO Alan Joyce is calling for the mask mandate on planes to be lifted.

From today, masks are no longer required at airports but the mandate remains on planes.

Mr Joyce told Ben Fordham he hopes the mask mandate will soon be lifted.

“We are behind the curve on this, we do need to move on it.

“We’ve had a change of government … we’re hoping to make progress pretty soon.

“An aircraft is the safest environment of any transport in the world. You’ve got these HEPA filters on an aircraft that take out 99% of all particles, including COVID-19.”
