Michael Shoebridge from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute believes Vladimir Putin’s intention is to “replace Ukraine with a government that does what he wants”.

Mr Shoebridge told Jim Wilson, “What he wants to do is resurrect Russian control of its neighbours and he’s doing it by force”.

The decision to invade was fueled by NATO and he thinks it’s “black comedy”.

“If he’s fear was that NATO was too close to Russia’s borders how does taking Russian troops… closer to NATO countries make any sense?”

“It’s going to go the Russians way.”
