Push to investigate veterans’ superannuation scheme

There’s a push to have the royal commissioner who led the banking inquiry, investigate a military veterans’ superannuation scheme.

Veterans were enrolled in the compulsory super scheme between 1948 and 1991.

They were told they could take a lump sum from their super scheme as a loan and then pay it back, but have suffered a drop in their pension as a result.

Federal National Party MP Llew O’Brien tells Alan Jones they were never told it would be a permanent deduction.

“The picture that I get, as I said, is a disgrace,” he says.

“In my view, these people were not given proper information when they left the military, under this scheme.”
