Medicare-funded psychology sessions have dropped from 20 per year back to the pre-pandemic maximum of 10.

This is a big issue for a lot of people who require regular therapy sessions.

Director of the Australian Association of Psychologists, Sahra O’Doherty, expressed to Deborah Knight that she “has hope” that the Albanese government will reinstate the funding.

“People are having to choose between going to therapy and paying for regular life expenses, like rent, which is going up,” O’Doherty said.
