Prime Minister Scott Morrison has defended his stance on working pensioners.

Currently, pensioners working more than one day a week at the minimum wage will have their benefits reduced.

Australia is being encouraged to look to New Zealand where pensioners pay tax instead of losing their payment.

Ben Fordham has been contacted by pensioners frustrated with the current scheme.

Mr Morrison says the pension work bonus adds $300 extra earnings a fortnight that won’t affect an individual’s payment.

“It hasn’t had a big take-up,” he told Ben Fordham.
