A major blue is unfolding between the NSW and Federal Governments over the flood recovery.

More than 2,000 homes and businesses in the state’s north have been declared unlivable.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison told Ben this morning that “there are 2,000 army personnel available on the ground”.

The Prime Minister told Ben Fordham the ADF is doing its best to provide support, with 2000 personnel on standby.

However, sources within the state government have refuted what Mr Morrison says and told Ben:

“We’ve asked for whatever they can give us. On Friday they told the Herald they had 2,000 personnel, on Saturday they told us 5,000.

“Then we got a commitment of 900- with no clear timeline of when they’d be on the ground.”

The latest ADF advice says:

“Total personnel deployed on task in NSW- 455.

“Defence will significantly increase its support- with 5,000 personnel on task, OR available for tasking over the course of a week.”

Ben said, “The response has been grossly inadequate. We have failed the people of northern NSW.”

“There is difficulty getting into these places currently,” Mr Morrison told Ben.

“We are in the worst of this disaster and that means there are always difficulties.”
