Macquarie Radio’s Natalie Peters is in Pyeongchang and she joins with Chris Kenny with an update.

Ahead of the Opening Ceremony, Natalie tells Chris temperatures are warming up and crowds are ready.

“The busses are packed with people heading towards the stadium.

“We met some of the Australian snowboarders who are in their official uniforms for the ceremony.

With politics bound up in the games, Natalie says they won’t distract from the excitement.

“We will see North and South Korea march under a united flag.

“We’ve seen that before, but with increased tension on the peninsula that makes it especially significant.

In the stands, high ranking officials from Kim Jong Un’s regime will watch on, seats away from the US Vice President, who has raised concerns about the North’s agenda.

27 Australian athletes will take part in the parade of nations.
