Police operation underway: Man stabbed in Rockdale following crime spree
A man has died, another stabbed in the stomach and a taxi driver forced out of his cab following a crime spree across Sydney’s south.
It incident began when police attempted to stop the driver of a 4WD, which wasn’t displaying plates, on the Hume Highway shortly before 3pm.
The 4WD then rammed the police vehicle before driving east towards Chullora, where the driver dumped the vehicle and stole a small Woolworths deliver truck.
The driver then struck a number of vehicles before coming to a stop after a multi-vehicle crash on West Botany Street at Rockdale.
The driver then forced a taxi driver out of his vehicle and stole his car.

A man who came out of a nearby building after hearing yelling and screaming was then stabbed in the stomach.
He was transported to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The taxi driver was not harmed.
The driver of the stolen taxi drove to Arncliffe where he was confronted by police.
He then stabbed himself in front of police, and despite first aid, he died at the scene.
A critical incident team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Motorists are being asked to stay away.
