Police intercept 100 people attending funeral in western Sydney

A hundred people have been intercepted attempting to attend a funeral in western Sydney.

Police set up checkpoints at Rookwood Cemetery for the funeral yesterday after receiving a tip-off. (See full statement below)

Ben Fordham has revealed 10 nominated people who allowed to attend were let in, but about 100 others were turned away.

Full NSW Police statement:

“Officers from Auburn Police Area Command received information regarding a funeral being held at Rookwood Cemetery today (Wednesday 8 September 2021).

“About 10.30am, officers attended and set up check points with only designated attendees given access.

“Others were turned away with no breaches detected.”
