A 63-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting standoff in New South Wales’ northern region.

A police car was sprayed with bullets on Saturday night near Lismore, allegedly targeted by a local resident firing off.

Police allege more than 20 shots were fired during the incident.

The man has been refused bail and will appear in court today.
