Who can forget the Holden brand

DAVID BERTHON

For many car enthusiasts and indeed many former owners the demise of the
Holden brand as a local manufacturer was a sad day. But the brand is far from
forgotten and many believe the nameplate will one day be revived. At the
Combined Motor Clubs Shannon’s Classic Car Day at Eastern Creek last Sunday
a magnificently restored HK Holden Premier sedan took the top honours. And on
ABC Adelaide this week the Director of the National Motor Museum at Birdwood
confirmed that one of the very first Holden’s produced, owned by Lady Prudence
Holden, the wife of one of the company’s directors had been purchased for
permanent display, the History Trust of South Australia securing $250,000 of
State Government funding to secure the car – thought to be one of the first ten FX
models produced of the original production run of 120,000. I’m David Berthon
