Other than submarines to protect our shores, what other military and economic strategies does Australia have in case of conflict?

Dr Michael Green, CEO of US Studies Centre & former White House Security Council Special Assistant to President for National Security Affairs, suggests to Michael McLaren the best path for Australia to take is to be an integral part of a federated defence. Dr Green states that the submarines are a good investment but it will be difficult to get private equities to invest so financing them will be a problem.
