Volkswagen Tiquan 132 TSi Comfortline SUV
Last September Volkswagen launched their second-generation Tiquan SUV – a seven-model medium-sized SUV range that was quickly lauded with a number of year-end awards. I’ve just caught up with the new model driving the popular 2.0-litre turbo petrol Tiquan 132 TSi Comfortline all-wheel- drive priced at $41,490. Only this week Volkswagen Australia launched the performance or GTi Tiguan variant – the 162TSi Highline but more of that model later. What has hit the spot with the new five-seat Volkswagen Tiguan is its premium and spacious feel with excellent luggage space, added safety equipment and a range of three turbo petrol and two turbo diesels plus the latest 4Motion all-wheel- drive system. On the downside the second generation models lifted significantly in price. A year after the DieselGate scandal broke one can’t help feeling this latest Tiquan came along at a very opportune time for VW while news this week the German company became the world’s biggest-selling car maker in 2016. More next segment. I’m David Berthon.
