Volkswagen introduces a new competitor in the compact SUV class from $27,990

Motor Torque

In compact SUV’s 12 models compete for a slice of the market – Mazda’s CX-3 the big seller. Volkswagen however joined the fray this week with a new entry the T-Cross. The Volkswagen T-Cross is the first German competitor in the segment arriving in two versions – the 85TSI Life at $27,990 and the better-equipped Style from $30,990 – both powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine driving the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic. Volkswagen are fairly bullish suggesting the competition can’t match the T-Cross for technology and driving efficiency. It is highly equipped with a rear view camera, four USB ports, parking sensors, wireless phone charging, the top spec T-Cross Life gaining adaptive cruise control, dual zone climate control air, LED headlights and steering wheel gearshift paddles.
