Utes & four-wheel drives could be priced out of the market

Phil O'Neil

Mike discusses with Trent Nikolic from Caradvice.com.au the warning from motoring groups about the potential phase-out or pricing challenges for Utes and light commercial vehicles.

The concern arises from the Australian government’s unveiling of vehicle efficiency standards, demanding a 60% emissions reduction for all new cars by the end of the decade.

Starting January 1 next year, car makers must prioritize selling electric and fuel-efficient vehicles in Australia or face financial penalties.

Despite the government’s aim to align with global standards, discussions revolve around the affordability of Utes, with the opposition expressing concerns about the policy’s impact on their cost.
