Traffic congestion in Sydney gets worse

Motor Torque

Traffic in Sydney just get worse and worse, weekends now nearly as bad as weekdays and one wonders with Sydney’s building boom how our traffic network will cope moving forward. In my own Hills area, this week’s Hills Shire Times highlighted the 900 million dollar expansion of the Castle Towers Shopping Centre and the number of high rise apartments planned around it. One wonders how the current road infrastructure could possible cope with what’s planned for this town once on the fringe of the semi-rural north west. The arrival of a train station in Castle Hill in 2019 is bringing a huge influx of high-rise development but like so many areas in Sydney road planning is back in the horse and dray days. One only has to look at the slow widening of Showground Road in Castle Hill to realise that a cashed up Hills Shire Council is moving at snail’s pace on road infrastructure compared to the excessive unit development planned for the suburb.
