Toyota once again the sales leader in 2019 bolstered by hybrid power

Toyota once again finishes the year in a dominant position with around a 20 per cent market share – more than twice that of second placed getter Mazda. The fact that one in five new vehicle sales is a Toyota is very much a product of the brands strong overall reputation bolstered in recent years by the fact a significant slice of its range offers hybrid power. The recent release of the new generation Corolla hybrid sedan joins other Toyota hybrid models including Corolla hatch, RAV4, Camry, Prius and the CH-R SUV giving the brand a significant edge in the market where many customers have embraced hybrid power as distinct from straight plug in electric power. Of the six Corolla sedan models which range in price from $21 335 to $33,635 two are hybrids. While the small car market is down this year by over 18 percent Toyota believe the sedan will further  lift their share of the segment.
