Tough start to the dairy season predicted

Cash flow is expected to be tight on Southern Australian dairy farms to begin the 2018/19 season.

Murray Goulburn buyer Saputo has announced its opening prices of $5.75 per kilogram of milk solids, which it says gives the processor room for upward movements.

Rabobank has released its Dairy Quarterly, where it’s expecting an average full-year price of $6.40 for the industry this season.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield caught up with Senior Dairy Analyst Michael Harvey.
