Tiny ants could have been big trouble.

An incursion of electric ants on a property in northern Victoria has been ruled out, but farmers are urged to remain vigilant.

Exotic species present in Queensland, WA and the Northern Territory can be quickly spread through human activity and machinery-use.

Rural editor Sophie Clarke caught up with Agriculture Victoria Leading Biosecurity Officer Ryan Melville who says while the tiny red ants, found inside a man’s water meter weren’t deemed harmful, we should ALWAYS be on alert for pests.
