Time to take in a road trip and support our hard hit regional communities

David Berthon

It’s been a tough couple of years what with bush fires and the COVID restrictions limiting our ability to get out and about so time to hit the road and support some hard done local communities. Why not plan a trip to the Blue Mountains – just a 90 minute drive west it offers just so much – historic Katoomba with its spectacular views of the Three Sisters and the Jamieson Valley, some great bushwalks and just so much for the kids at Scenic World where the Scenic Skyway takes you on a glass floored journey over the valley while the renowned Scenic Railway provides and exhilarating ride down into an ancient rainforest.

Check out Echo point as well also historic Leura with its popular restaurants and cafes. The Blue Mountains is easily accessed – drive up through Windsor and the Bells Line of Road and come back via the Great Western Highway and Springwood – it’s a great day out.  Heading North, take a day trip to Terrigal, just 90 minutes away up the M1 Motorway via Gosford, just so much to offer, a fabulous beach, great fish and chips, surf shops and some very nice restaurants and cafes, maybe a walk out to the Skillion Lookout or just a relaxed stroll along its magnificent beach.

On a nice summer day with a good rolling surf Terrigal is very hard to beat. Or why not travel a little further north to the Entrance and Tuggerah Lake – or south to the seaside village of North Avoca.
