The legacy of boat arrivals & offshore processing

Mike Jeffreys

Luke is joined by Abul Rizvi, former deputy secretary of the Department of Immigration & author of “Population Shock”, to discuss his recent article on the legacy of boat arrivals and offshore processing.

Dr Rizvi also addresses reports yesterday that Labor’s visa rule ‘stuff up’ would hurt teachers & nurses in the bush.

He says, ‘slow processing of SC887 makes zero difference to number of teachers & health workers in the bush.  SC887 is for people who have already been working regularly in OZ for many years’, adding, ‘why wouldn’t author of this make some basic checks before writing such rubbish?”
