As the pandemic stretches healthcare workers to the brink, Australian hospitals are experiencing a large withdrawal of experienced nurses like never before.

Roughly 20,000 workers have handed in their registration, with the widespread losses affecting maternity wards, aged care, mental health and critical care.

As the crisis worsens, hospitals are struggling to fill their rosters, with the health care industry worried for what the future could bring.

Australian College of Nursing Chief Executive Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward joins John to share just how bad the situation is.
