The cost of motoring on the rise

David Berthon

With rising shipping costs affecting all vehicle imports and with petrol affected by the war in Ukraine the cost of running the family car is on the rise.

In what could be a big fillip for the electric vehicle industry the cost of petrol looks set to soar in coming months. And the continuing shortage of semi-conductors is still impacting new vehicle deliveries and impacting on costs. Toyota’s popular RAV4 has risen in price for the second time in three months although buyers with confirmed orders placed by the end of February will be exempt from the latest increases.

Prices rise between $100 and $750 depending on model and follow previous price rises of between $410 and $1,525 as part of the 2022 RAV4 model year update. The Toyota RAV4  was our second best seller last month – the latest estimated wait time now out  to 12 months versus 6 months for most other Toyota models.
