Electric car sales have softened the world over and whilst they represented a lift to 9.6 per cent of our total new vehicle sales in February the rumour mill is rife that some importers have growing stocks on hand. Tesla now offering discounts of up to $10,000 on new and demonstrator stock of its pre-update 2022/23 Model 3 electric sedan following the arrival of a facelifted model before Xmas. Keeping track of Tesla pricing has not been easy with prices moving up and down over most of last year. Tesla has also thrown its Teddy out of the cot suddenly resigning its membership of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries, the country’s peak motoring organisation – Tesla claiming the peak industry body has made demonstrably false claims of how the Government’s proposed New Vehicle Emission standard will affect car prices.
