Sydney’s ‘Loneliest patient’ finds friends through tough 2020

34-year-old Malaysian construction worker Khaidir Abu Jalil has been labeled as Sydney St Vincent’s Public Hospitals ‘loneliest patient.’

Suffering from a rare autoimmune disease and away from home Khaidir hasn’t had a visitor in the 6 months he’s been admitted.

Dr Laila Gurgis is the Head of Rheumatology at the hospital and one of the many caring for Khaidir.

Dr Gurgis joins Luke Grant to share Khaidir’s incredible story of resilience and how the staff rallied and made him feel at home.
