Sheep producers cautiously welcome proposed improved live export standards

Sheep Producers Australia is welcoming a commitment to improve animal welfare practices for live exports.

A draft Agriculture Department report is proposing to measure the risk of sheep being impacted by heat stress.

It’d see a threshold of 28 degrees on shipments, which the industry is warning could effectively end the Northern Summer trade to the Middle East.
