The sugar industry is dismayed Senators will not be visiting Cairns and Townsville as part of an inquiry into Great Barrier Reef Regulations.

A hearing will be held in Brisbane, but not in the heart of the cane growing regions.

The hearing is looking into the practices in ensuring evidence-based regulation of farming impacting water quality outcomes in the Great Barrier Reef
