Ross Grant on the health benefits of curcumin

John Stanley

Once upon a time turmeric was used mostly in curries and other dishes, but now it is not just a great spice to add to your cooking, but a spice that carries a long list of potential health benefits.

Turmeric comes from the root of a plant called Curcuma longa and has been used in Indian and South East Asian cooking for many years. It has also been used in traditional forms of medicine, but more specifically the extract from within turmeric – curcumin – is what holds the potential to a range of health benefits.

Over recent years many studies have been performed to find out exactly how turmeric and curcumin might benefit your health.

Ross Grant, Executive Director of the Australasian Research Institute, located at the San, joins John Stanley to expand on the health benefits of curcumin.
