Port of Newcastle bill passes NSW Lower house

John Stanley

The Port of Newcastle is about to do business on a more even playing field after a deal was done to remove a controversial cap on the number of containers it can move.

John Stanley is joined on the line by Craig Carmody, CEO of Port of Macquarie.

Last month a bill was introduced to state parliament to end penalties on Newcastle developing a large-scale container terminal.

That bill has passed the NSW Lower House today with the hope that it will now pass the Upper House.

It’s expected that supply chain issues would be solved with a large-scale container terminal.
