Driving Peugeot’s 3008 GT Sport SUV today – this flagship of the five-model 3008
line-up is the gem of the range differentiated with gloss black trims replacing all
chrome brightwork and large 19-inch black alloy wheels – an impressive driver
with a boosted 1.6-litre turbo engine mated to an eight-speed torque convertor
automatic. The Peugeot 3008 GT Sport SUV not inexpensive at $63,990 drive-
away but very stylish with blacked out grille, slimline LED headlights, black roof
and a raised hip design giving it a purposeful look. Inside it shines with
impressive finishes, a swag of safety and driver aids and Peugeot latest i-Cockpit
technology with improved digital head-up instrument display and a well sized 10-
inch high definition colour touchscreen although some of its functionality can be
frustrating. Being relatively lightweight at 1420 kilos makes for a really nice driver
– it feels light and nimble on road with sharp steering response and nice ride and
handling. I managed 7.2 L/100km on 95 grade petrol. Despite its hefty price the
Peugeot 3008 GT Sport SUV really has a lot going for it. This French car maker
has always produced different and interesting product and the 3008 SUV is perhaps the current gem in their range so too the smaller 2008 which I will be
covering in coming weeks.
