Peugeot 3008 GT Sport SUV plug-in hybrid all-wheel-drive first impressions
I’m driving the new Peugeot 3008 GT Sport plug-in hybrid all-wheel-drive SUV – Peugeot’s first plug-in hybrid, joining the very impressive pure petrol 3008 GT Sport two-wheel-drive which sells for $59,840.
The plug-in hybrid 3008 GT Sport with the added benefit of all-wheel-drive from two electric motors driven by a 13.2 kw/hour lithium-ion battery costs another $20,150 at $79,990. This hybrid 3008 offers 60km of electric range on a full charge however the best I could manage was 42 km.
Let me say on first impression this is a stylish, superbly equipped prestige SUV with great performance, dynamics, a fabulous interior, superb finishes and great instrumentation however at $20,000 more than the excellent petrol only 3008 GT Sport 2WD it’s simply overpriced. Yes, it offers all-wheel drive, but the electric performance is simply not good enough to justify the big lift in price.
I’m David Berthon.
