Oysters to improve reef quality

Seven-million hatchery-raised native oysters are being released into the wild on South Australia’s Windara Reef.

It marks the final stage of three years of work to reconstruct natural shellfish reefs in Gulf St Vincent.

The Nature Conservancy’s National Reef Building Project is aiming to rebuild 60 reefs in six years across the country.

Rural reporter Eddie Summerfield spoke with Maritime Restoration Coordinator Anita Nedosyko to find out more.
