On-line car buying and purchase platforms grow during COVID-19

Motor Torque

One of the outcomes created by the pandemic has seen many dealers move to an on-line ordering and purchase platform. The move has been brought on by market uncertainty that was disrupting the traditional car buying experience. Audi has already enjoyed success with it on-line purchase platform and a number of other luxury importers have followed suit in recent weeks. Audi has also introduced a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and five-years free scheduled servicing for new cars sold in May and June. However, unlike the five-year warranties offered this year by Mercedes, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Genesis, Audi has no plans to extend the longer coverage past June sales. Audi will also offer warranty extensions for any customers whose new car warranty expires between March 1 and May 31. Many dealers have now foreshadowed that on-line buying is now here to stay and would extend after the COVID-19 as expected to end given its level of adoption and success.
