New Skoda Kamiq SUV
Skoda continues to grow in model numbers, the Czech brand going from strength to strength in the last 20 years as part of the Volkswagen Group. Over 50 per cent of its sales are SUV’s, soon to be bolstered by the arrival next month of the small Skoda Kamiq, joining the mid-size Karoq and larger Kodiaq. The Kamiq comes in four models – the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo 85TSI manual and auto from $26,990 and in two more powerful 1.5-litre turbo auto only 110TSI models, prices running up to $35,490. The automatic transmissions the seven-speed dual-clutch variety – the base model featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear power tailgate, and wireless phone charging. Not short on safety gear either with with autonomous emergency braking, fatigue detection, a rear parking camera and seven airbags. Tomorrow in my two segments I road test the mid-sized Skoda Karoq based on the same platform at Volkswagen’s Tiquan SUV.
