New animal cruelty laws welcomed by Animal Justice Party

John Stanley

People convicted of serious animal abuse in NSW will now be banned for life from ever owning or working with animals again.

The new NSW legislation, the first in Australia, is unique in that the ban is for a lifetime and is automatically imposed upon conviction.

Prior to the new bill people convicted of extreme cruelty or fetish-related assault such as bestiality were still permitted to continue working with or caring for animals in NSW.

Animal Justice Party MP Emma Hurst talks with John Stanley about the tough new penalties.
