Net zero emissions push is ‘futile’ says new report

A new report is warning that current efforts to decarbonise our economy will go completely wasted until the technology is affordable.

 

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Global Picture report says while much of the developed world reduces its carbon emissions, developing nations are increasing their use of fossil fuels to boost their economy.

 

The report’s author, Martin Livermore, told Luke Grant the chances of success would be “immeasurably greater” if the current efforts were focussed on developing new technologies to make decarbonisation globally feasible.
