More on the governments proposed new vehicle emission standards from January 1
A number of car companies have now voiced their concern over the proposed New Vehicle Emission Standard due to come into effect from January 1 – Mitsubishi, Toyota and Isuzu, who currently have a high proportion of higher emission vehicles, have all heralded hopes for a delay and changes to the proposed scheme. Isuzu Ute Australia is the latest company to urge the Federal Government to consult further with the Automotive industry to identify an emission standard that protects the interests and needs of all Australians living in metro, regional and rural areas. With high emission utes accounting for 20.3 percent of total new vehicle sales in February its obvious this segment of the market is going to hit hard with price rises due to proposed new penalties. Of 21,327 utes sold last month just one was electric.
